Ashby (2015). Description

The main character of the film is a young guy named Ed. His life, to put it mildly, is not going well. He doesn't have any friends, and he can't make them. Moreover, at the new school, which he just recently transferred to, everyone considers him a loser. And peers don't miss a single chance to make fun of Ed. The guy tolerates all this and dreams of the main thing – becoming a member of the school's football team. But the prospects for this are very vague.
That was until recently, when Ed's class was given homework – to get to know someone from an adult and write an essay about him. Ed chose his neighbor Ashby as an example. He is an elderly, withdrawn man who rarely leaves the house and does not communicate with anyone. But for some reason he decided to let Ed into his house and told him his story. It turns out that Ashby was a top-notch CIA agent in the past. His specialty was the destruction of any opponent. But over time, Ashby retired from business, and after that he retired altogether. Moreover, the doctors gave Ashby a disappointing diagnosis. He is terminally ill and could die at any moment. Ashby becomes not just a storyteller for Ed, but a friend and mentor who can change the guy's life beyond recognition.
